Welcome

A warm welcome to Renishaw Hall and Gardens.

Whether you are a first time or seasoned visitor, Renishaw Hall is a truly beautiful place to visit.

Renishaw has been in my family for nearly 400 years and generations of Sitwells have made their mark on the architecture, gardens and wider estate which comprise Renishaw and so much of what you see on your visit. I hope you will thoroughly enjoy your time at Renishaw now it is under my care and still very much a family home.

We look forward to seeing you!

Christmas at Renishaw Hall

Eat, Drink & Be Merry at Renishaw Hall!

Thurs 28th Nov – Sun 1st Dec & Thurs 5th – Sun 8th Dec

Alexandra Sitwell invites you to enjoy a festive, ‘foodie’ tour of the Hall and grounds this Christmas; decorated under the theme of ‘Eat, Drink and be Merry’.

From Thursday 28th November to Sunday 1st December and Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th December, the Hall and award winning gardens at Renishaw will be open to take visitors on a fascinating journey – across the traditions and stories of how Christmas has been celebrated through food, drink and entertainment.

Special ‘Eat Drink and be Merry’ Hall tours take place at 1pm and 2:30pm daily during the Christmas opening (booking recommended) where guests will enjoy exploring from room to room the festive facts about how Christmas has been celebrated for almost 400 year at Renishaw Hall; including:

  • The Old Kitchen with its glowing copper kettles and pans – featuring Victorian local recipes, kitchenalia and ‘below stairs’ stories of staff members who worked at Renishaw over centuries past
  • A canter through four centuries of fads and fashion in drinking history in the Smoke Room – from the early days of Renishaw’s own brewhouse to an award winning 21st century estate vineyard
  • In the Library – learn about the history of the Christmas Cracker
  • Enjoy the warmth of the Hall’s roaring log fires, and look out for the special Yule Log and wood theme in the Billiard Room

Each room within the Renishaw Hall tour will be decorated to show different aspects of ‘Eat, Drink and be Merry’ at Christmas time.

Before or following Hall tours, visitors can enjoy the winter vistas offered by Renishaw Hall’s superb gardens – with views across the Estate and areas of the gardens not seen during the main season – making Christmas a very special time to visit the gardens at Renishaw.

In the Café at Renishaw Hall, there will be a sumptuous, winter menu of homemade dishes being served daily including Christmas classics such as Turkey Ballantine, Spiced Belly Pork and Vegetarian Wellington plus special Christmas afternoon teas, comprising an array of delicious homemade cakes and sandwiches – why not topped off with a glass of award-winning Renishaw Hall sparkling wine to enjoy with your food?

Allow time to choose gifts to take home from the Visitor Centre including local produce, plant sales, memorabilia and books on the history of Renishaw Hall & Gardens, plus a range of the award- winning still and sparkling wines; all making superb items for family and friends this Christmas.
