Tracy White is the resident artist at Renishaw Hall.
Born in Sheffield, she studied at the Sheffield Art College in Graphic Design and Visual Communication before gong to London as a Freelance Graphic Designer, and crafted some important iconic artwork for some of the favourite artists of that era, most notably merchandise for Marc Almond of Soft Cell and work for the fabulous and outrageous Divine fan club fanzine.
A further two years in the art of Stained Glass work led her to explore the technique of working with glass and she taught herself the skills to produce fused glass items, which include jewellery, bowls, clocks and mirrors.
Nine years ago, she fell in love with Renishaw Hall Gardens , and decided to volunteer to help Sir Reresby and Lady Sitwell at Renishaw Hall welcome visitors.
Sir Reresby purchased a Swan painting, which hangs in the Hall and can be seen by visitors on the guided tours. He also commissioned her to paint two of the family pets:
• A labrador belonging to his daughter Alexandra
• Sophie, the latest dachshund pet of Sir Reresby and Lady Sitwell
She then moved into the stable block at Renishaw and from her studio there she takes on commission work (pet portraits a speciality), and runs art classes and children’s creative birthday parties.
Her 2009 exhibition is called From the Past to the Future. It is dedicated, with thanks for his support, to the memory of Sir Reresby, who sadly died two days before it opened.
